Pool test enquiry

Myself and my colleague have completed my pool plant operator course, with the exception of the exam and practical elements etc.

I have a question regarding the pool test – at the centre I work at, we are only required to test the free/comb chlorine, and pH levels. Will this be enough in the video to complete the course, or do you require more content?

We have a multi-valve so can easily demonstrate our backwash process.

In regards to strainer baskets, are these the same as the skimmer baskets on poolside?

Any information you can get back to me would be hugely appreciated.

Hi Kate,

You need to carry out the following water tests:

1. Free and Total Chlorine with combined chlorine calculation (Photometer or Comparator)

2. pH (Photometer or Comparator)

3. Total Alkalinity (Photometer or shaker bottle method)

4. Calcium Hardness (Photometer or shaker bottle method)

5. TDS

6. Temperature

Water balance calculation

When we say strainer basket, we mean cleaning of the pre-pump strainer basket.
